Nadan - 'Could have been portrayed well'

After the classy movie 'Celluloid', director Kamal's new venture 'Nadan', portraying some straits of drama profession in current society. But the film is not live up to the expectations. Nadan is an average one and it could have been portrayed well. Jayaram did the protagonist role 'Devadas' along with others; K.P.A.C Lalitha, Chembil Ashokan, Joy Mathew, Ramya Nambeeshan, Sajitha Madathil etc.

Story
Devadas (Jayaram), a theatre performer who runs a troupe named 'Sargavedi'. He inherited the drama profession from his grandfather Ochira Pappukutty and his father Bharathan. Devadas leads the troupe with a few permanent artists and they faces many struggles. The movie intends to show the struggles and junctures of Drama profession in the new generation.

Movie Outlook
  • Story is predictable even at parts, which may break the twine of entertainment
  • The first half is okay, but the second half (specially the flashback scenes) is lagging and more stretched.
  • I feel that the scenes created just to prove the acting excellence of actors
Acting
  • Jayaram performed good in his character 'Devadas'.
  • K.P.A.C Laitha again proved her calibre in emotional moments through her role. She made a notable one in her career.
  • Others are fully justified to their roles. nothing much to say about the performance sides.
Technicality
  • Director Kamal could have been made better.
  • S.Sureshbabu' s script just okay
  • Ouseppachan's tunes created a glorious mood in the drama industry and he did well.
  • Art direction of Suresh Kollam is noteworthy.
Grade  :   Just good
Rating  :  2.9 / 5
