Agneepath - Review

I eagerly awaited the release of Agneepath, which is the remake of the Bollywood film with the same title. Hrithik roshan, performs the lead role and reprises the character of One and only Amitab Bachan. I thought that 'new Agneepath's plot would almost be the same as the 'Original Agneepath' but some of the factors such as the story narration, Background, Renovated Characters etc. are different. Compared to 'Big B's Agneepath', 'Hrithik's Agneepath' is fairly made and the response is good. Sanjay Dutt, Rishi Kapoor, Zareena wahab, Priyanka Chopra have performed well in the movie directed by Karan malhotra.

Story

Vijay Dhinanath Chauhan (Hrithik roshan) S/O Dhinanath Chauhan, a highly respected school teacher of Island village 'Mandwa', tries to dissuade the villagers from giving away their land to Kancha Cheena (Sanjay Dutt) who plans to start a drug mafia. Then Kancha puts a false blame on Dhinanath Chauhan and Kancha executes him in public view by hanging him from a tree. This forces him and his mother to flee from Mandwa and they reach Mumbai. After 15 years Vijay tries to avenge his father. It is the main plot of this film.

New Agneepath is an adaptation of the Original but is depicted in a new style with Dark Background which is very apt for this film because New agneepath included deadly revenge sequencesFirst half is good and it contains movie's Vital sequences especially 'The flashback scene of Vijay Dhinanath Chauhan's life' and second half contains some lag scenes however the climax presents the usual factors with some sequences giving an adrenalin rush.

Hrithik plays the role of  'Vijay Dhinanath Chauhan' and he performs fairly and his style is 'Attractive and Graceful'. The positive factor of this film is the 'Villain - Kancha' done by Sanjay Dutt and he performs amazingly the role is renovated in a new route from the Original acclaimed role done by Actor Dany Denzongpa. And other main characters done by Rishi kapoor and Zareena wahab. Rishi kapoor's performance is new for viewers because he plays a Villainous character and Zareena wahab nicely handled the 'Mother role of Vijay Dhinanath Chauhan'. Priyanka chopra's performance is not quotable in this film. The drawback of this film is 'Original Agneepath's characters' connects perfectly but in the case of 'New Agneepath' it consists of imperfection.

Karan malhotra, an assistant director of Karan johar directs the 'New Agneepath' and  he has done the adapted screenplay along with illa bedi. Karan malhotra, makes a good entry in to Bollywood, he has done a superb job, and Piyush Misra inscribes good and inimitable Dialogues. There are many applaud factors in technical side specially Cinematography, Editing, Art direction, Sound design, Thrills and Background score. Cinematography done by Kiran Deohans and Ravi.K.Chandran, are  amazing and appetizing shots and it helps the dark background of this film. Art direction or Production Design, done by One and Only Sabu Cyril proves to be at his best in a lot of sequences like theVillage, Tree and Cave etc. and Editing done by Akiv Ali Trimm append the sequences nicely. Sound design and Thrills done by Stephen Gomes and Abbas Ali Moghul is appreciable. Ajay-Atul's Back ground score is a Pivot Point and they accurately blend. Whole technical crew proved their hallmarks in this film.

Overall, 'Agneepath' is an Advanced, Superb and Different rendering from 'Original'

Grade:  'Agneepath' is Hair-rising and gives an Adrenalin Rush.

Rating: 4/5

'Casanovva' Movie Crowd - Stills

Casanovva - Review

I watched the 'Highest Budget Malayalam Film Ever Made' 'Casanovva' with huge expectation, but the film is a just an average and a One-time watch, directed by Roshan Andrrews and scripted by Bobby-Sanjay. Casanovva made a Grand release on 26 Jan.2012 and was exhibited in 200 theatres. The movie has Mohanlal in the title role along with Shriya saran, Lakshmi rai, Roma, Jagathy Sreekumar, Lalu alex, and Riyaz khan in the lead performance.

Story

Casanovva, is a playboy and owner of the Casanovva's Eternal spring, a international establishment of flower boutiques. Four young criminals try to use him indirectly for a robbery but Casanovva knowing it all, plays along to trap  two out of four through a channel programme named 'Fall in Love'.One of the four young criminals is involved with Casanovva's personal life. Finally, he traces him out overcoming many difficulties. This is the main thread of the film.

'Casanovva' delineates an unfamiliar story in a luxurious background but the movie lacks energy. Most of the sequences could have been made better and hence falls short of expectation.

Mohanlal plays the title role Casanovva, he is the only positive attraction of this film, and he has steals the show with his gorgeous and incredible performance. Shriya saran, Lakshmi Rai and Roma has showcased an average performance. Supporting roles done by Jagathy Sreekumar, Riyaz khan, Lalu alex adds no flavor and requires no major mention. Except Mohanlal, other characters add no strength or value to the movie.

The movie is a superfluous attempt by director Roshan Andrrews, sequences are Humdrum and questions his directorial efficiency. Thrills, which was the highlight too falls weak for any adulationThe script is done by Bobby-Sanjay after their Hit work 'Traffic'. Story and screenplay of 'Casanovva' is not appreciable but some dialogues are nice. In the technical side Cinematography and Backgroud score are positive factors done by Jim ganesh and Gopi sundar respectively. Jim ganesh has taken a lot of tawdry and dazzling shots which adds style to this film; Gopi sundar's BG Score is very apt.

Overall 'Casanovva' is a One man show.Don't expect more.

Grade: 'Casanovva' is an etiolated film with flamboyant making.

Spanish Masala - Review

A successful team, Director Lal jose and Actor Dileep joins again in a new film 'Spanish masala' which will make a grand release on 20 Jan.2012 but their magic is not reflected in this film. According to viewers response the film is poor and average and all expectations shattered. Dileep, Kunchako boban, Biju menon, Daniela Zacheri and Nelson don the lead roles in this film which is written by the hit writer Benny.P.Nayarambalam. The film is produced by Noushad under his own banner 'Bigscreen productions'

Story

Dileep plays Charlie a mimicry artist from Kerala, who comes to Spain for a stage programme and he runs away from the team because he wants to live a new life to fulfill his wishes and find another job. But circumstances makes him a cook at the residence of a Spanish ambassador. There he meets the ambassador's daughter Kameela (Daniela Zacheri), a melancholic because of the death of her lover Rahul (Kunchako Boban). But with Charlie's presence Kameela's life changes and he falls of her. The story takes an unexpected turn when Rahul enters their life. Will Charlie and Kameela  unite? This is main thread of the film.

Spanish masala is an outdated and unsubstantiated story, with hit-and-miss sequences. The script's low level of energy reflects throughout the first and second half, and the story portrays different Spanish arts and festivals such as La tomatina, Bullfighting and Flamenco dance.

Dileep is the main attraction of this film, and has done his part with aplomb. The role of 'Kameela' performed by Austrian model Daniela Zacheri is impressive with her amiable way of acting. Actor Nelson's comedy numbers in some scenes are laughable and Biju menon has handled his character well. Kunchacko boban, though a main part in this story, makes no major contribution to the movie because the character is totally shallow.

Laljose often includes some special features but 'Spanish masala' contains a lot rough and indigestible sequences. The script done by Benny.P.Nayarambalam inoculates the sequences in a haste. The positive factor of this film is the Cinematography and Music done by Lokanathan and Vidyasagar respectively. Lokanathan takes adorable shots and Vidyasagar has gracefully handled the music especially the songs ''Aarezhuthiyaavo....'' and ''Hayyo.. Hayyo...''

Overall 'Spanish Masala' is outdated and distasteful in making.

Grade: 'Spanish Masala' is a Flavourless film.

Vettai - Review

Director Lingusaamy again comes with a racy and mass entertainer movie 'Vettai', with film stars Aarya, Madhavan, Sameera reddy and Amala Paul handling the lead roles while Nassar, Ashothosh Rana,Tambi Ramaiya performes supporting roles. Vettai produced by UTV motion pictures and Thirupathi Brothers film media Pvt. Ltd. was released on 13 Jan.2012 , a Pongal release  and proved to be a 'Mass entertainer'. Vettai includes Masala ingredients and the story narration gives an 'Adrenalin' rush.

Story

Vettai' story revolves around two brothers named Gurumoorthy(Aarya) and Thirumoorthy(Madhavan). The elder brother Thiru being sensitive and scared of violence while the younger Guru, is a jobless and unafraid rogue. After the death of their Father, a Police officer, Thiru becomes the successor and rises to fame because his brother Guru secretly punishes the suspects and saves the Thiru's position. But the circumstances foreclose to a Regent mob gangster named Annachi's (Ashuthosh Rana) anger and he begins to seek revenge on Thiru. The gang severely torments Thiru. The twist in the story is when Guru trains his brother to lose his fear and helps him become a valiant police officer. The two brothers gets back at Annachi and protects their family from his avenge.

Vettai story contains a mass film's considerable sequences and it keeps the energy throughout first and second half, but some scenes are not appreciable because it creates predictability.

Aarya is the main attraction of this film and he handled his character impressively with his charming spirit. The character gives a boost to his acting career. Madhavan performed the character 'Thiru' adding some expressions impressively and has transformed in to the character very well. Sameera reddy and Amala paul played the pairs of Madhavan - Aarya with ease. The supporting roles are applaudable too but the villain role 'Annachi' done by Ashuthosh rana is caricatured as a loud voice with outdated punch dialogues.

Director Lingusaamy scripts and directs this film with his usual rollick factors, Romance, Humour, Sentiments, Action and MusicThe dialogue written by Brintha Sarathy inscribes some nice and apt dialogues. The main positive factor in this film is the cinematography and editing done by Nirav shah and Anthony respectively. Nirav shah's visuals proves his efficiency to take some striking sequences in Vettai especially the tone and lighting of action sequences is his best and Anthony trimmed the scenes and shots admirably. Though the background score deserves a mention, music by Yuvan Shankar Raja falls short.

Overall 'Vettai' packed with delicious ingredients is well rendered.

Grade: 'Vettai' is a 'Rollicking Entertainer' and a 'Pongal Feast'

Rating: 3.5/5
