'Manglish'- Review

Manglish, a Megastar Mammootty movie directed by Salaam Bapu and has the stars Caroline Bech, Tini Tom, Balachandran, Srindha etc. It released 27/07/2014 and received negative opinions.

Story
Maalik Bhai (Mammootty), a well known person and an auctioneer in a fish harbour at Cochin. A foreign girl named Michelle (Caroline Bech)  enters in his life to solve some  problems of her. But the communication between theirs becomes complicated and how they overcome it.

Movie outlook
  • About the 'title', you must be expecting that it will become a funny entertainer. But it goes aimlessly and  nothing to be expressed.
  • The Second half is just better than the first half.
  • Drawbacks:- Lacking Humour, Weak Characterisation, Even though it used ‘Dolby Atmos’ which firstly in Malayalam the dialogues aren’t clear in almost.

Acting
  • Mammootty has nothing much to do in his role ‘Maalik Bhai’.  He just tried at his best.
  • The foreign actress Caroline Bech did a good job.
  • Others aren’t notable.

Technicalities
  • The direction has nothing specials.
  • While the 'turn' of the story is good the script fails miserably
  • ‘Camera’ tried best
  • Gopi Sundar's Scores, hardly tried to give a liveliness.

Grade:    Neither English nor Malayalam

Rating:   2 / 5

' Vikramaadithyan' - is Slow-Paced

Vikramadithyan, a multi hero  oriented movie is directed by Lal Jose and it released on 25/07/2014. Dulqar Salman, Unni Mukundan, Anoop Menon, Lena, Namitha Pramodh etc. Starring in this film. The opinions about the film is mixed.

Story
Vikraman (Unni Mukundan) and Aadithyan (Dulqar Salman) were born at the same time and friends from their childhood. Vikraman’s father is a Police officer named Vasudeva Shenoi (Anoop Menon) and Aadithyan’s father is a Thief, Kunjunni (Santhosh). Kunjunni is caught by Vasudev Shenoi for a thievery and Aadithyan’s life becomes more depressing. The friendship of Vikraman and Aadithyan turns to a competition. See what happens in the rest.

Movie outlook
  • The storyline is good but it could have been made well with a racy pace.
  • First and Second halves, in the same level and the main drawbacks:- it lost the engaging grips, including lagging parts. Totally Slow paced treatment.
  • Expected Climax

Acting
  • Even Dulqar has too scenes than Unni Mukundan, they shared equal importance. They are good in acting and on screen-chemistry.
  • Anoop menon's acting is good as 'Shenoi', a negative shade character. And Lena did good job.
  • Santhosh (playing Dulqar's father role) made a notable performance.
  • Namitha, Joy Mathew, Sadique etc. are handling apt roles.

Technicalities
  • The direction lacks the vitality
  • Some defects in Script
  • Jomon T John captured nice visuals.
  • Sound Tracks are OK.  BG scores are poor.

Grade:   A One-time Watch
Rating:  2.75 / 5
