'Biriyani' - 'The Diet' isn't Satisfactory

You will expect that the director Venkat Prabhu adds some special taste buds in his new movie 'Biriyani'But he completely lost his chance because he did an usual thriller flick and nothing specials have in it. The film isn't interesting and It will be a disappointment for you. Karthi is the 'protagonist' in 'Biriyani' and the director's brother cum actor Premji Amaran is handling the companion role of hero. The film was released on 20/12/2013 and the opinions are not favourable.

Story
Sugan (Karthi) is a playboy and Parasuram (Premji Amaran) are soul mates and they are working in the same company. They are invited to attend the party of Varadarajan (Nassar) who is a big industrialist. While Sugan and Parasu returning, they meet a beautiful lady and accidentally she wants a lift to her living place at hotel and she invites them to her room. They spend whole the night in her room. In the next morning, Sugan wakes up and surprisingly sees that Varadarajan is murdered in that room and the lady is missing. Sugan and Parasu
are trapped in the Murder of Varadarajan. See how they reveal the case.

Movie Outlook

  • The movie starts with a pace of entertainment but later it fails to keep up. Biriyani is boring and indigestible even at prominent parts. The 'meal' is flavoured with usual masala of Venkat prabhu's style and ends with a predictable suspense. 'Biriyani' misses its taste.
  • In the first half sequences have some 'comic numbers' of Karthi and Premji Amaran, which leads to the main element of the subject and then the movie lacks the thrills. The main negative is Venkat prabhu adds more needless scenes which create the feel of complications. The Anticlimax and Climax: is poor.

Acting

  • Karthi again enacted with his usual gestures and his 'Playboyish' look is good.
  • Premji Amaran is in his regular stocks (specially the dialogues ''enna kodumai sir ithu'', ''evalavo pannito ithu pannamattoma'' etc.). 'Karthi - Premji Amaran', their 'screen chemistry' is well
  • Others 'acting'; just ok.
  • The special appearances of director's buddies, actors Aravind, Jai, Vaibhav etc. aren't impressive.

Technicality

  • Venkat Prabhu's direction is at his fixed styles and the 'diet' isn't satisfactory.
  • The technical sides; Sakthi Saravanan's shots and Cg works are strong benefits.
  • The film is the 100th musical of Yuvan Shankar Raja and he composed some ordinary tunes for 'Biriyani'.

Grade:   Tasteless Biriyani
Rating:   2.3 / 5
