'SAKUNI' - Review

A famous character by the 'Disingenious' trait -'Sakuni' in Mahabharatha, redounds in the same name through a Tamil Film, not in an Epic; but in a Full-Fledged entertainer. 'Sakuni' is a debut venture from the film maker Shankar Dayalan, starring Santhanam, Prakash raj, Kotta Sreenivasa Rao, Nassar, Radhika did the key roles while Karthi playing the protagonist and Praneetha as Heroine. The film hit the screens smashingly on 22/06/2012, which received generally mixed opinions.

Story
Kamalakannan aka Kamal (Karthi) is a middle class man from ancestral family which confronts a problem that government is planning to build a Railway 'Sub-Way' through near by their residence. To overcome this problem Kamal wants to meet the CM Bhoopathi (Prakash Raj), but an unexpected insult from the CM leads Kamal has to decide to teach him a lesson. Thereby whether he can save his ancestral house? it is the Main Plot of this film.

Sakuni has usual Story, First half collocates by the entertainment manner which includes funny dialogues, thrills, songs etc.and the Second Half fluff up with recent political issues, dips in a bit of lagging which leads in to a permanent weak climax and End. Mostly the film's witty dialogues are cinematic.

Karthi does an usual fine performance, his nuances are purposeful and apt the sequences but his appearance isn't different from the recent films 'Paiyaa' & 'Naan Mahan Allai'. Santhanam's pariance and wits almost same from his other films, but the team 'Karthi-Santhanam', on screen chemistry again win after the film 'Chiruthai' by their well-timed dialogues. Praneetha made her debut entry through this film in Tollywood, but she just does an overplay in her 'Heroine' role though she added for few scenes and songs. Prakash raj, Nassar, Kotta Sreenivasa Rao, Radhika, Roja, Kiran and other castings are fairly good though they don't offer valuable performances. Actress Anushka's cameo as a 'Police' role with the same name is nice.

Shankar Dayalan prepares for rev elate the gimmickry of voting in politics, recent scams like 2G & 3G spectrum etc. but it is doubt that the purpose of theme has won the perfection? because the film's drawbacks- in the Second Half is partly boring and songs are darn with inaptly. Further the plot is the resemblance of Tamil film 'Dhool' rendered in a new background with few changes. In technicalities, it shouldn't much of notable factors as Cinematography, Editing and Music. An Average Visuals and Editing done by P.H Muttaiah and Sreekar Prasad respectively and However the impressive contextual BG scores of G.V.Prakashkumar, the Soundtracks are uninviting.
Totally, Don't Much Expect From this 'Sakuni' if so it will disappoints You.

Grade:  'Sakuni' is an Above-Average.
Rating:  5.75/10
