Story
The film features the story about 6 gang members Sunny, Murukannan, Aloshy, Tomy and Basheer, they handle job Gambling, Bar and other underhand deals such drugs. Balakrishnan, a C.I of Police in Bangalore offers them a job to sell heroin for 5crores promising them fifty percent share. The 5 members start out to fulfill the offer thus facing the consequences thereafter. This is the principal plot of this film.
'Unnam' is sort of an adaptation from 2007 Bollywood sleeper hit film 'Johny Gaddar', first half is packed with momentous and essential sequences but second half is a little lagging with unpremeditated scenes and twists but the movie's interval and end is un hoped and peculiar.
Lal, Nedumudi Venu, Aasif Ali, Prasanth Narayan and Noushi plays the 5 gang members roles as Sunny, Murugannan, Aloshy, Tomy and Basheer respectively. Lal, Nedumudi venu and Noushi has performed well in their parts, Except Aasif Ali inelegantly handled the struggled character 'Aloshy'. Bollywood famed villain Prasanth Narayan, of 'Murder 2 fame', plays a pivotal role in this film and he has done the character of 'Tomy' with aplomb. What an acting style he uses for this film! He is an amazing part in 'Unnam'. The heroine roles done by Swetha menon and Rima Kallingal is done finesse and the nice and jovial Character Balakrishnan played by Sreenivasan is hearty too.
Though the story is complicated, Sibi Malayil directs the film's with ease compared to his recent films 'Violin' which was not well received at the Box Office. Compared to Sibi's other movies, 'Unnam' is rendered in a new style and is different. The movie scripted by Swathi Bhaskar, is adapted from 'Johny Gaddar' and the screen play has a lot of twists and complications. The cinematography done by Ajayan Vincent, a salient factor in this film has been garnished with a lot super visuals, especially the color tone of 'Unnam' is very apt and Bijith Bala' s editing is perfect. Other technicals, Music, Costumes, Makeup and Art is appreciable especially the title graphics of 'Unnam', It is superb!
Totally, 'Unnam' is an adequate and different rendering of a complicated script.
Grade: 'Unnam' a different experiment and mysterious-noir thriller film.
