The viewers desirous combination of 'Director Shankar and Actor Vijay' is viable through the film 'Nanban' which released on 12 Jan.2012 Nanban is the remake of Bollywood Box-Office breaker hit '3 idiots' directed by Rajkumar Hirani, Aamir khan, Madhavan, Sharman joshi, Kareena kapoor and Boman irani are performing the leading characters. In the movie 'Nanban' along with Vijay, Jeeva, Sreekanth,illeana and Sathyaraj are performing the same roles respectively.
Nanban delineates the story of three engineering college students Panchavan parivendan(vijay), Venkat(sreekanth), and Sevalkodi senthil(Jeeva) who were friends. Venkat and Senthil are mandatory studying engineering becuse of their different familial surroundings and Parivendan is an excellence following person with his positive thoughts an attitudes. In venkat and senthil's life the changes made by parivendan and the college dean Virumandi santhanam nicknamed 'Virus' and his family also involved. It is the main thread of this film.
The Story and Sequences are the same as '3 idiots' without alterations except including masala songs for tamil viewers.
Performance
Vijay nicely acted his role 'Pari' but most of the sequences he imitates and recalls the character of 'Aamir khan'. Jeeva and Sreekanth handled well their roles independently. Satyaraj plays the role of Boman irani's 'VIRUS' and he is very apt for the role and it presents unconventionally and sathyan performs his role 'Sreevatsan' (Oami Vaidanath's character) is well meant. A Quaint perfomance of Kareena kapoor's character in '3 idiots' but the illeana's role is not quotable in 'Nanban'.
According to Director Shankar, there is no his mark in the film 'Nanban' and he just copied the sequences and some shots from '3 idiots' except some dialogues written by himself and Madhan karky. And the two masala songs formed by his filmmaking style is not apt for this film and it extends the time duration of 'Nanban'. Cameraman Manoj Paramahamsa added dazzling shots and editor Anthony trimmed the sequences efficiently. The negative mark of 'Nanban' is soundtracks and Background score done by Harris Jayaraj. Related to '3 idiots' music is indivisible salient feature but 'Nanban' includes Harris jayaraj's indelible style tunes.
Overall comparing to '3 idiots' Nanban is normally remaked and nothing is special.
