' North 24 Kaatham' - Review
'North 24 Kaatham' - a journey changes the life of a 'loner' IT Professional, brings out a fresh treatment. It is penned & directed by debut Anil Radhakrishna Menon. Nedumudi Venu, Fahad Fasil and Swathi handling the lead roles in this Journey and it runs on mixed opinions.
Story
Harikrishnan (Fahad Fasil) a brilliant IT professional and he is suffering Obsessive compulsive disorder. The Company sends him for a certain mission to Trivandrum City. On the way of travelling, he meets a politician named Gopalan (Nedumudi Venu) and a lady social worker Narayani (Swathi) and it happens in a 'Harthal Day'. Circumstances forced him to accompany with these persons and this changes his entire life.
Movie Outlook
- Story is just good.
- The First 'Title Credit' is nice.
- The first half rolls on good sequences and in the Second Half, feel some 'slowdown' parts.
- Anti Climax and Climax, dealt with on Performers hand.
Acting
- Fahad Fasil gives a good account in his character 'Harikrishnan'.
- Nedumudi Venu does an extra ordinary job. His performance creates a feel that if such a man accompanying us in a journey. His last part in the movie, is amazing.
- Swathi shares the good space with Nedumudi Venu and Fahad.
- Others are just Okay.
Technicality
- Anil Radhakrishna Menon's making, treated creditably and the style is in new way. Coming to his 'writing', I feel that it needs some improvement.
- Jayesh Nair's visuals create an impact mood. The shots of 'Nature' and a 'Harthal Day' show his skills.
- Govind Menon's tunes sync with the film.
Grade: Good and Adjustable
Rating: 3.25 / 5

'D Company' - Review
'D Company' is totally fails to impress ! The movie is an anthological contains 3 movies 'Oru Bolivian Diary 1995', 'Gangs Of Vadakkumnathan' and 'Day Of Judgement', are directed by M.Padmakumar, Diphan and Vinod Vijayan respectively. The film is released 15/09/2013 and it is a 'bad' experience for me.
Movie Outlook
D Company included two segments in the first half
1) 'Oru Bolivian Diary 1995' : The story features the flashback life of a Police inspector ('Aadukalam' Narein) narrates to a journalist (Ananya) that he tries to capture a Maoist leader named Chaukidar (Samudrakani) who spreads his maxims in tribal habitats of Wayannad. To trace out him, the Police officer brutally torturing a young tribal Chinnan (Asif Ali), he is attracted by the Maoist laws.
Grade:
Nothing specials in this short film which resembles the style of making of the Director M. Padmakumar's 'Shikkar'. And Acting :- Samudrakani, Asif Ali and Narein is just do the justice in their roles.
2) Gangs Of Vadakkumnathan :
A Multi Millionaire is assassinated and robbed '750' Crores. A sharp Police Officer tries to find out the culprits and he comes to 'Thrissur' city and investigates how the Gangsters included in this 'Murder & Robbery'.
Grade:
Firstly Hats off to the exciting 'title', but it lost the impressions. To my opinion, the movie have inspirations of the Tamil film 'Mankatha', somewhere. Coming to the Making, Director Diphan is worked out his maximum and the script Of Anoop Menon, is repetitive and unexciting. In Acting, Jayasoorya did his best and Anoop Menon is mimicking the Malayalam ace actors. Unni Mukundan has nothing to do. Bharani .K.Dharan's Visuals are good.
3) Day Of Judgement:
Dr Sunil Mathew (Fahad Fasil) is accused the murdering of his wife Jeena (Bhama) who is an insane. A Police Officer Zareena (Thanusree Ghosh) investigates whether the doctor is innocent or not.
Grade:
Altogether, this segment is so boring. It screens in the second Half throughout and I don't feel that you may take patience to see this segment up to the end. On the Direction and Acting, it has nothing special while the shots of Pappu, is good.
Rating: 1.5 / 5

'Ezhamathe Varavu' - Review
Undoubtedly, 'Ezhamathe Varavu' is an 'M.T - Hariharan' teamwork on the basis of creative technical experiment. The film is remade by the team 'Evideyo Oru Shatru' which couldn't complete due to certain problems and it was starred by Sukumaran and Venu Nagavalli. In the latest, Indrajith (S/O late actor Sukumaran) and Vineeth reprising that characters. 'EV' released on 15/09/2013 and my opinion is just an above - average film.
Story
Prasad (Vineeth) is an archaeologist who comes to research in a dense forest and his accommodation arranged in a bungalow owned by Gopinathan (Indrajith). Gopinathan is a villain with verve and his hobby is hunting. Bhanu (Bhavana) is the wife of Gopinathan and she was a college mate and lover of Prasad. The inhabitants of forest meets a dangerous situation that a wild Tiger attacking only human beings. How the happenings in the rest. Watch it.
Movie Outlook
- The movie goes on Well as well as Lagging sequences at parts. As naturalistic, it created some thrilling and beauteous situations. (the Forest and the Tiger included scenes)
- First half is interesting at times and the Second half is predictable and much lagging.
- The Climax presented well and the 'End' carrying with a 'superb' shot.
Acting
- Indrajith has done well dedicated to his role 'Gopinathan'. The film will create a 'Milestone' in his career. Damn sure. (The Climax is carrying in his excellence)
- Vineeth again proved his acting calibre.
- Bhavana just tried out her maximum efforts.
- Actress Kavitha is good. Her 'eyes' like Actress Parvathy, will bear in your mind.
- Others are done good jobs.
Technicality
- As a directorial venture, 'EV' is Hariharan's usual pattern like 'Aaranyakam' and some other movies of him. Technically, he showed a 'mastery' (well added good Shots, Bg scores and Sound Design). Hariharan did a new job as a Lyricist & Music Director, the songs have the touch of the Music director Bombay Ravi
- M.T's script is an Old-hat.
- S.Kumar created a 'Cinematographical' Magic.
- Deepak Dev's Bg score is tried out to an active mood.
- Tapas Nayak's sound design & Cg works, appreciable.
Grade: Above-Average
Rating: 2.75 / 5

'Daivathinte Swantham Cleetus' - Review
'Daivathinte Swantham Cleetus' is following a biblical theme but it is treated as motiveless. So in all the manners the film isn't interesting. The title character is done by Mammootty as 'Cleetus' in the movie which is directed by debut G.Marthadan and scripted by Benny.P.Nayarambalam. The film is much hyped in this festive season because it's a 'Mammootty comedy entertainer' but it is disappointing u.
Cleetus is a goonda who got incidentally a chance to performing the role of Jesus Christ in a Light&Sound show led by Fr. Sunny in 'Vadakumthala theatres'. Accidentally his life changes when he started to playing the role of Jesus Christ and how it connected the bitter past of Cleetus.
Movie Outlook
- 'DSC' lacks the thoroughgoing story and screenplay, It's a major fact.
- The comedy essence doesn't work out well.
- The movie more weakened by its shaky 'flashback' scene and the stale Climax.
- DSC's first half is just keep the pace but the second half is completely lost it.
Acting
- Mammootty is just do the role 'Cleetus' and the movie is followed only his heroism. (nothing more to add)
- Even the other actors aren't bear in mind.
Technicality
- As his experience Director G.Marthandan worked as associate under ace filmmakers and it is his first directorial movie with minimum expectations. According to the film, Marthandan is just followed the script.
- Benny.P.Nayarambalam's script is dull.
- The beautiful shots are taken by Pradeep Nair that the only major +ve factor.
Grade: Just to Watch 'Cleetus' / Mammooty
Rating: 2 / 5
