' Bhaskar - The Rascal ' - Review


The hit combo of Mammootty and the Director Sidique again happened after a long gap of 12 years, with their new offer, the movie ‘Bhaskar - The Rascal’  is released 15 April 2015. The movie received mixed opinions from viewers. Nayanthara, Sanoop, Anikha, Janardhanan, J.D.Chakravarthy, Saju Navodaya, Shajon, Harisree Ashokan etc.are the other leading cast.

Story
Bhaskar (Mammootty) a rich business  man and a widower. He is very short tempered and his all deals ends in action.  So his son Aadhi (Sanoop) is in trouble  by this character of Bhaskar. Shivani (Anikha) is Aadi’s best friend and she lives with her Mother named Hima (Nayanthara), a business woman who is also a widow. The Kids have wish to become as siblings and they want their parents to be married each other. Bhaskar likes Hima and so he interests in that deal. But Hima has a problem in her past life.  

Movie outlook
  • Storyline has impressive sides and satisfy you with some engaging parts. The first half of its, good moments with colourful visuals and other bonuses. But the Second half  leads to more crucial turns and the pace falls  down.
  • Drawbacks: Some parts of the Second half and the Climax.

Acting
  • Mammootty made an awesome performance in his role 'Bhaskar' as a lovable Rascal.
  • A neat performance by Nayanthara and she looks gorgeous.
  • Anikha and Sanoop, the child characters' performance is sweet.
  • Saju Navodaya's jokes make laugh you.
  • Other cast are good.

Technicalities
  • Even though some minuses have the screenplay, the Direction hides it.
  • Visuals, Cuts, Musical scores, the Sets  etc. are up to the marks.

Grade:   Watchable

' Ivan Maryadaraman ' - Only One is better than the Other remakes of 'Maryadaramanna'


'Ivan Maryadaraman' is better than the other remakes of the Original, the Telugu film 'Maryadaramana'. Dileep is handling the protagonist role in Malayalam and it is directed by debut Suresh Divakar. Naginudu, Sudheer, Nikkigal rani, Kailash etc.and Suraj Venjaramoodu. It is released 04 / 04 / 2015 and the opinions are mixed.

Story                                                                     
Ramachandran aka Ramu ( Dileep ), a decent man who working as an employee in a Rice Mill in Pune. A Bicycle is Ramu’s  soul mate. But he meets some difficulties and then he decides to buy an auto rickshaw to settle his life. Ramu’s deceased parents  deposited a big amount of money for him in the Post-Office of their native place. Then Ramu goes to that Village.  But there has a problem waiting for him,  a Family waits to kill Ramu because of a revenge upon his father.

Movie Outlook
  • It is remade with exact sequences and managed the same pace of the Original version. With adding a few changes in dialogues & a few new parts.
  • Drawbacks: Some Complications have  in the second half, Climax could have been better.

Acting
  • Dileep is apt for the role in Malayalam. There is nothing other options. He performed well.
  • Nikkigal Rani is cute and pretty for her role.
  • Naginudu, the same actor of Original, playing the same ‘Villain’ character with the same gestures and look.
  • Suraj Venjaramoodu's voice  well lends with the Cycle.
  • Other rest of the cast performed  good.

Technicalities
  • Direction is just Ok.
  • In the screenplay nothing much added than Original.
  • Well shots, Cuts, the sets etc. good.
  • Some Bg scores of Original  is again blended in some parts as well as tracks. Songs are soothing.

Grade:   a 'Dileep' treat.

' Komban ' - Review


‘Komban’ is an out-and-out mass and emotional movie by the director Muthaiyaa. Karthi as the title role 'Komban', the protagonist and the other roles featuring by Rajkiran, Thambi Ramaiyaa, Lakshmi Menon, Kovai Sarala, Super Subbarayan,  I.M. Vijayan etc in the movie. It is released recently with good responses.

Story
Pandian ( Karthi ), a rural youngster who is very quick tempered when he meets the situations of illegalities. So he is known as with the nick name ‘Komban’. He lives with his mother (Kovai Sarala) in a village. Komban falls in love with the girl named  Pazhani (Lakshmi Menon ), the daughter of Muthaiyaa ( Rajkiran ), who likes peace. Komban married Pazhani and then these all are lives in the Komban’s home. In their life, a village mobster Ramasamy (Super Subbarayan ) crosses the path and the relation of Komban and Muthaiyaa becomes crucial. 

Movie Outlook
  • Komban is Completely entertaining with all stuffs, like a family drama as well as a Mass action thriller. 
  • Keeps a well pace in all sides specially in thrilling ‘Climax’.

Acting
  • Karthi is totally awesome as 'Komban'.
  • Rajkiran made an amazing performance in his role 'Muthaiyaa'.
  • Thambi Ramaiyaa, Lakshmi Menon and Kovai Sarala are nicely handling their parts.
  • As a stupendous appearance, Super Subbarayan is apt for the 'Villain' character.

Technicalities
  • The Director wrapped well with a balanced script.
  • R.Velraj's Shots,  Cuts by Praveen.L, Musical scores of G.V.Prakashkumar and the Fights of Dilip Subbarayan etc. are noteworthy.

Grade:   Family and Mass

' Oru Vadakkan Selfie ' - Review


This ‘Selfie’ taken only for Youth. ‘Oru Vadakkan Selfie’, a debut directorial of G.Prajith and It is scripted by Vineeth Sreenivasan. Nivin Pauly, Aju Varghese, Manjima Mohan etc.featuring the main characters in the movie and it garnered mixed reviews.

Story
Umesh ( Nivin Pauly ), an engineering student who has 42 supplementary to complete his course. He is a carefree young man and he has a will to making a film. Daisy ( Manjima Mohan ) is a neighboring girl of Umesh and he loves her.  Umesh goes to Chennai to fulfilling his wish and he accidentally meet Daisy in the train journey. But he misses her in Chennai. He returns back to his native place with disappointment that he couldn’t achieve his aim in film making. But there has a crucial problem in his house because of Daisy. 

Movie Outlook
  • 'Oru Vadakkan Selfie' is totally a youthful theme with entertaining elements fun, songs and thrills.
  • Drawbacks: Silly Jokes in the Second half.

Acting
  • Nivin Pauly excellently handled his character as 'Umesh'
  • Aju Varghese as 'Shaji', is totally for fun filled.
  • Manjima Mohan as 'Daisy', could have been done well.
  • Although the role is new for Vineeth Sreenivasan, It’s in his usual shades and with silly jocks.
  • Other cast are good.

Technicalities
  • Director’s job is well and he knows the pulse of Youth.
  • Script is Good.
  • The Visuals, Edits, Musical & Bg scores are remarkably positive factors

' Valiyavan ' - Review


‘Valiyavan’ is a blend of usual masala stuffs. Jay and Andrea are the main characters in this M.Saravanan's film and it released 27/03/2015. Opinions about the movie favourably mixed.

Story
Vinod ( Jay ) is a happy-go-lucky man and One day a young girl named Subiksha ( Andrea ) proposes to him. Vinod avoids her but then he is disturbed by  Subiksha and he falls in love with her. Then he meets Subiksha to tells, he loves her. But Subiksha has a condition that Jay have to beat a guy named Ashwin ( Aaron Chaudary ) who is an Olympics winner in Boxing.  But Jay also has an intention in that. Why…..?

Movie outlook
  • Until the movie reaches the crucial turns, It goes with a usual Rom-Com factors. The turns are thrilling  and it keeps an excellent  pace, Good Climax.
  • Drawbacks: Some few parts are grip off.

Acting
  • As a romantic hero , Jay is cute and charming with his gestures and his peculiar voice. The entry as an action hero, he handles neatly.
  • Andrea's performance is wonderful and she has equal importance with Jay.
  • Rest of the cast are well.

Technicalities
  • Good direction and Average Screenplay .
  • Fantastic  visuals.
  • Apt Bg scores and Sound tracks.

Grade:     An 'Above-Average'

' Ennum Eppozhum ' - Review


'Ennum Eppozhum' is not in the usual typical styles of the director Sathyan Anthikad. It is just a feel-good genre and the opinions about the movie are mixed. Mohanlal, Manju Warrier, Innocent, Reenu Mathews etc. are handling the leading roles in this movie and it released 27/03/2015.

Story
Vineeth.N.Pillai ( Mohanlal ), a skilled Staff reporter who working in a women-oriented magazine named 'Vanitharathnam'. The magazine gives responsibility to him  to interview a celebrity woman lawyer named Adv.Deepa ( Manju Warrier ). Vineeth doesn't know that it's a tough job.

Movie outlook
  • Story is thoroughly scenes-oriented and It engages in some parts and the sometime it lags.
  • Drawbacks: It couldn't fully satisfying. 

Acting
  • Mohanlal's performance as 'Vineeth.N.Pillai' keep engaging you well and He rocks it.
  • Manju Warrier is just good but on the shades of her role in the movie 'How Old are you?'.
  • Gregory is good as the companion role with Mohanlal. Their on-screen chemistry worked well.
  • Rest of the cast performed well.

Technicalities
  • An Ok direction with just Ok Story and Screenplay.
  • Nice visuals.
  • Good musical scores.

' Mili ' - Simply Good


After the nail biting racy thriller 'Traffic', director Rajesh Pillai's new film 'Mili' is simply motivational and inspiring. Amala Paul, Nivin Pauly, Saikumar, Praveena, Ambika etc. are handling the main characters in this movie. The responses about the film, are mixed.

Story
Mili ( Amala Paul ) is highly introverted and she cannot handle alone her life problems. When her life falls into  struggle situations, her caretaker Nancy ( Praveena ) and Nancy’s brother Naveen ( Nivin Pauly ) try  to help her. Mili decides to fight her struggles and becomes brave.

Movie outlook
  • The Set right Sequences in the quietly impressive Storyline
  • A touching Climax
  • Drawbacks: falls into Grip off mood in some parts.

Acting
  • Amala Paul is totally awesome as the title role 'Mili'. The movie is in her hands.
  • Others; Nivin Pauly, Saikumar, Ambika, Praveena etc. are did well.

Technicalities
  • A Realistic Direction
  • Script is OK.
  • Apt visuals
  • A Major bonus mark is the Bg Scores of Gopi sundar.

' Picket 43 ' - Nothing Line Of Controls in this Friendship


There have nothing line of controls between these Patriots. 'Picket 43' deserves a Big Salute. It's a nice film directed by Major Ravi and which has the main characters by Prithviraj and Javed Jeffrey, are handling the Soldiers roles who guarding the INDO - PAK border known as 'Picket 43'. The opinions about the film are Good.

Story
Hareendran Nair ( Prithviraj ), an Indian Soldier who is  home-sick and trying to get leave from the Force. Unexpectedly  he is posted in a cautious area at the India-Pakistan border, known as 'Picket 43'.  He has nothing to accompany him except an efficient Military dog named Bacardi to the Border. He became friends with a good-hearted Pakistan Soldier named Mushraf ( Javed Jeffrey ) who has been posted at the other side.

Movie outlook
  • The storyline is short but describes well with a non-linear pattern.
  • Climax scene is  heart - felt.
  • Drawbacks: a  cliched family scenes of Hareendran,  could have been better.

Acting
  • Prithviraj and Javed Jeffrey have equal importance. Javed Jeffrey made a good entry.
  • Bacardi, the dog character is fondly favourite.
  • Other actors are handling a good job in their scenes.

Technicalities
  • Major Ravi treated well the screenplay with a neat direction.
  • Visuals of Jomon.T.John,Musics & BG are remarkable.

' The Dolphins ' - Review


‘The Dolphins’,  is an usual pattern of Scripting of Actor Anoop Menon and  having nothing changes from his previous  flicks ‘Beautiful’ and ‘Trivandrum Lodge’.  The film is best to watch for some outrageous humours  and a little bit of entertainment.  It is directed by Diphan,  after his action genres ‘Puthiya Mugham’, ‘Hero’ and ‘The Gangs of Vadakkumnathan’  (a  short movie of ‘D Company’). Suresh Gopi  is playing the protagonist role and the  other casts are  Kalpana, Meghna Raj, Indrans, Nandu, Nishant Sagar, Jojo etc. The responses about the movie,  are Mixed.

Story
Surabalan aka ‘Panayamuttom Sur’a  (Suresh Gopi), an alcohol king who have a dozens of Bars in City. He is good- hearted but he hardly try to make a good acceptance in social life and he faces self problems. While some murders occur  in the city and become  unsolved. In Sura’s life enters a Girl named Mridula  and happens some unexpected moments.   The Murders and the Girl have any importance in Sura’s life?  

Movie Outlook
  • The Film lacks an exact  script line and feels like something is happening , the scenes just follow.
  • Positives :   Some Entertaining  heroic moments  of  Suresh Gopi  and Valuable informations  about some Movie Classics by Anoop menon  (Thanking  you).
  • Negatives:  A love track  extends  until  the end ,  A quick - stop Climax and  the main elements feel like worthless  (eg. The Murder scene turns).

Acting
  • The One and Only Attraction is Suresh Gopi . It Only leading with his role ‘Panayamuttom Sura’, did fine act.
  • Kalpana’s role ‘Kochuvava’, made a good performance.
  • Nishant Sagar  did wonderful job
  • Anoop Menon did what he has done in his previous flicks.
  • Others  are Just OK.

Technicalities
  • Director Diphan tried his best  for an engaging  pace.
  • Script  nothing  offers new.
  • Jithu Damodar’s Shots  are fine,  Art Direction of Saloo.K .George, The Musics of M.Jayachandran  are major  bonus marks.

' Iyobinte Pusthakam ' - Review


'Iyobinte Pusthakam' is totally an Amal Neerad movie, treated with his magical frames and usual styles. It has Multi star cast  including Lal, Fahad Fasil, Jayasurya, T.G. Ravi, Sreejith Ravi, Jinu, Chemban Jose, Vinayakan, Isha Sharvani, Padmapriya, Reenu Mathews, Lena etc. The film is the first production of Fahad Fasil in the banner ‘Fahad Fasil and Friends’ combo with Amal Neerad Productions. The opinions about the movie, are Mixed.

Story
Iyob ( Lal ) is one of the slaves of British Lord Harrison and later he becomes as a most trusted servant of Harrison. The Lord gets separated from his wife and  he falls in love with a tribal woman Kazhali ( Lena ) and then she becomes as the Mistress of the Lord. The Lord passed away and Iyob kicks out the pregnant Kazhali from the House. Iyob  rises as a ruthless Lord. He has three sons Dimitri ( Chemban Jose ), Ivan ( Jinu ) and the third Aloshy ( Fahad Fasil ), in his wife Annama ( Reenu Mathews ). The first two sons are roughshod but Aloshy, the youngest is  kind & gentle. After some unexpected turns,  Iyob finally realises that Aloshy is right.

Movie Outlook
Excepting the previous flicks of Amal Neerad , ‘Iyobinte Pusthakam’ – the theme features a different backdrop. The story set in the period of Slavery, Comradery and Revolution before and after The World wars and Independence.
  • Positives :     Visualisation &  Some applaud able moments ( specially The Climax, Stunts & Dialogues )
  • Drawbacks:  The Most heavy lagging moments, An Outstretched narrative styles, Some Scenes have made a feel of Emptiness.

All are Major Characters;  Lal, Fahad Fasil, Jayasurya, T.G. Ravi, Sreejith Ravi, Jinu Jacob, Chemban Jose, Vinayakan, Isha Sharvani, Padmapriya, Reenu Mathews, Lena etc. – They have equal importance.

Technicalities
  • Totally goes with spectacular visuals Of Amal Neerad. But Direction could have been better.
  • Gopan Chithambaram’s Script is OK. Good Dialogues of Syam Pushkar
  • The Technical sides are greatly endearing; Specially Music, Art Direction, Costumes, Sound Sections, Titles  etc.  Amal Neerad again shows ‘How to treat a movie with finest technical sides’.

' Bang Bang ' - A Complete Bang Bang


‘Bang Bang’ is delightful for ‘Hrithik’ Maniacs and a Completely ‘Bang Bang’.  It is directed by Sidharth Anand and which has the other Stars Katrina Kaif, Jimmy Shergil, Dany Dengzopa, Javed Jafrey etc.  The opinions are favourable.

Story
Rajveer Nanda (Hrithik Roshan), a brilliant thief who steals the precious ‘Koh-i-noor’ diamond from London. The Wanted Terrorist named Zaffar’s (Dany Dengzopa) men trying to follow Rajveer to make a deal. But circumstances were not well for Rajveer and then he flew away from theirs.  On Rajveer’s Mission, Harleen Sahni ( Katrina Kaif) accidentally enters and finally she includes in it.

Movie Outlook
‘Bang Bang’, the official remake of the blockbuster Hollywood movie ‘Knight and Day’.  It has usual revenge storyline but totally gripping with Visual richness and Superb action sequences.

Acting
  • Its’a ‘Hrithik Roshan’ Show. He totally amazes well.
  • Katrina Kaif/ Kat also good in her role ‘ Harleen’. ‘Hrithik-Kat’ screen chemistry is adorable.
  • Others are OK.

Technicalities
  • A Fair Direction 
  • Script, Just OK.
  • Very Detailed Cinematography, Thrills, Musical scores, Costumes, Colourful spots etc.

'Sapthamasree Thaskaraha' - Review


'Sapthmasree Thaskaraha' is just reach the expectations. Nothing exceptional one. Prithviraj is handling the protagonist role as a 'Thief' along with other thieves' roles of Asif Ali, Nedumudi Venu, Chempan Vinod, Sudheer Karamana, Salam Bukhari and Neeraj Madhav. The director of the movie is Anil Radhakrishnan Menon and the responses are favourable.

Story
Circumstances changes the life of Krishnanunni (Prithviraj) and is shut in the prison. He makes friends with six inmates and they are bond together to face a common enemy, a rich badman Pious (Joy Mathew). They plan to rob the wealth of Pious.

Movie outlook
  • The narrative style is good and almost sequences are OK.
  • Drawbacks:  unimpressive & confusing End , feels incomplete.

Acting
  • Prithviraj is just OK nothing has much to do.
  • Chempan Vinod made an impressive performance.
  • Others Asif Ali, Nedumudi Venu, Sudheer Karamana, Salam Bukhari and Neeraj Madhav, Joy Mathew etc. did well their parts.

Technicalities
  • Direction isn't exceptional and the script is just OK. Misses main things.
  • Apt visuals and OK Editing. Good BG scores.

Grade:   A one time watch

'Rajadhiraja' - Review


'Rajadhiraja' specially made for Mass and only our Megastar 'Mammootty' show. The film is the debut directorial of Ajai Vasudevan and it has the stars Rai Lakshmi, Jojo, Sidique,Joy Mathew, Mukesh Khanna etc. It released in this Onam festival and opinions are mixed.

Story
Rajashekharan (Mammootty) who happily lives with his wife and daughter. He working as Petrol pump manager and also runs a restaurant business. One unexpected event happens his life that turns into crucial situations which makes Raja to turn back his historic past in Mumbai.

Movie Outlook
  • Story is fully resemblance of the Tamil movie, Rajnikanth starrer 'Baasha' and Sequences, only for Mass and it just worked out well.
  • Drawbacks: Unwanted turns which makes the Pace into lagging. Except the Interval before Scene, Other aren't effective.

Acting
  • Mammootty made a superb job in the role 'Rajashekharan / Raja'. His gestures and get up suit well.
  • Jojo performed well and he made his space in industry.
  • Other actors are good in their parts.

Technicalities
  • Direction is good.
  • Script nothing offers new.
  • Visuals, Editing, Bg scores are positives.

Rajadhiraja is an old wine in a new bottle.

'Bhiaya Bhaiya' - Review


'Bhaiya Bhaiya' is utterly poor film and nothing impressive sides in it. The movie from the actors' team Kunchako Boban-Biju Menon and it is directed by Johny Antony. It released 05/09/2014 and the opinions are negative.

Story
Babumon (Kunchako Boban) and Baburam aka Bengali Babu (Biju Menon) are living like brothers and they called each other “Bhaiya Bhaiya”. One unexpected event happened in their life that one of labours died in an accident in their working spot and they carrying the Labour’s dead body to his native place, Bengal.

Movie Outlook
  • About the Story and Sequence, It doesn't express anything.
  • A lot of Boring parts.

Acting
  • The team of Kunchako Boban-Biju Menon, they have nothing better to do.
  • Nothing other notable performances.

Technicalities
  • Poor direction and Poor Script
  • Other sides are not favourable.

'Peruchazhi' - Spoof & Satire


'Peruchazhi', a throughout heroism oriented and strictly for fans. Not expect more and it fills the cup. It is directed by Arun Vaidyanathan and the complete actor Mohanlal handling the hero character along with other characters Mukesh, Baburaj, Aju Varghese,Vijay Babu, Ragini Nathwani etc. It’s an Onam festival release and received mixed opinions.

Story                                                    
Jaganathan (Mohanlal),a master mind politician who takes up a Project from his friend, a political rival PWD Minister Francis Kunjappan (Mukesh) that to increase the public value of a Republican Candidate John Korry (Sean James Sutton) in US. How Jaganathan handles the mission with his Indian Political tricks ?

Movie outlook
  • A good plot, engaging at parts.
  • 'Title cards' are interesting.
  • Just watch it with ‘logic away’.
  • Drawbacks: lengthy first half, Some Grip off scenes.

Acting
  • Mohanlal is not an actor in this movie, he is a 'Hero'. The Movie in his hands.
  • Mukesh, Baburaj, Aju Varghese, Vijay Babu, Ragini Nandwani etc. are did good jobs.

Technicalities
  • Direction is perfectly blended to build up the heroism.
  • Script could have been better.
  • Arvind Krishna's visuals and Arrora's Musical Scores and other techniques are top-notch.

Totally a 'Mohanlal' Movie in this festive season.
