'Kammath and Kammath' - Review

To the viewers much expectations, 'Kammath And Kammath' has a lot of specials in its combination of Super Stars Mammootty, Dileep and the script team Udayakrishna -Sibi.K.Thomas. But the show is for just bringing the stardom of actors Mammotty and Dileep, and does offers nothing new in others, specially. Thomson directed this film which starring Rima Kallingal, Karthika, Baburaj, Narain etc. Kammath and Kammath is out today (25/01/2013) and its opinions are mostly mixed with negative.

Story
Rajaraja Kammath (Mammootty) and Devaraja Kammath (Dileep), the brothers who are the owners of the famous hotel business 'Kammath and Kammath' group. They have strong holds in economical and political level. Devaraj falls in love with a girl (Karthika) who has a lot of family problems and a tragic past. Devaraj tries to marry that girl with the help of Rajaraja Kammath.

'Kammath and Kammath' lacks a main story and is just create the serialising incidents for the star value of Mammooty and Dileep. It drifting with some immaterial elements (divorced marital flashbacks of Mammootty's role, twists of Karthika's character etc.), enmeshed cinematic cliches, predictable heroism which you can calculate wherever the heroes will enter (eg: Interval related scene, climax).

The movie is well carried on the stardom of Mammooty and Dileep and their on-screen chemistry is good. But their  heroism wouldn't be a special one. Their roles are placed in properly but to my opinion their dialects of Kammath aren't impressive. Rima Kallingal, Karthika Nair are heroines and their roles go on a usual way. Baburaj handling a good role and he is coordinated for thrills and some jokes. Tamil actor Dhanush does a cameo role (as himself), nothing to do and he added for enriching the market values. Totally 'Kammath and Kammath' is a Mammootty - Dileep show.

Thomson's making style isn't impressive because there has more weak and doesn't offers the marks. Udaykrishna Sibi.K Thomas wrote the half baked screenplay which lacks the main plot. The protagonist roles praising each other throughout in the film (is flattened) which is like their previous film 'Pokkiriraja' (as in main theme also) . In technicalities - Anil Nair taken the apt visuals for this film but the Editing of Mahesh Narayanan, isn't much better. M.Jayachandran's musics have graceful factors eg: 'Dosa Nalloru Dosa... (vocals by Shankar Mahadevan) is a good peppy number.
Totally, 'Kammath and Kammath' is highlighting the stardom of Mammootty and Dileep.

Grade:    The Show is only for Heroism
Rating:    2.5/5

'Lisammayude Veedu' - Review

A sequel becomes more appealing when its events are more accord to that's prequel. The film 'Lisammayude Veedu' is a sequel of critically acclaimed film 'Achanurangaatha Veedu' (2006), but the 'prequel' tail end scene doesn't follow the Sequel's starting of the story, unsuitably and 'Achanurangaatha Veedu' story follows of a father who has three daughters and the youngest girl who is a serial rape victim in her teen - which had been handled in the prequel. But in Lisammayude Veedu shows mainly the gut wrenching life period of 'adult' Lisamma. Comparing to its prequel, Lisammayude Veedu goes on an adrift manner in the plot which could not have working perfectly in the story. The film released on 04/01/2013 and it got the negative responses

Story
Lisamma (Meera Jasmine), was a serial rape victim in her teen and those incidents troubled her family life. When she grew up, she adjusted her life by confronting the woes and tried to utilize the chances to escape from her sadness es. In this period some crucial characters entered in her life and happened some turning points.

'Lisammayude Veedu' story is in old cup which is so predictable even at the parts. A hurly burly tragedies (which should be make u tiresome) included in which breaks the twine.

The character 'Lisamma' became bold and she utilized the chances to escape from her sadness es, but it turned out to some tragic episodes. Meera jasmine easily did a great job in her title character 'Lisamma' despite there have more difficulties to doing this role. Rahul Madhav played the dual role as the 'Father' and 'Son'; he showed the acting calibre and the father role 'Sivankutty' will bear in the mind. Salimkumar has effectively did the character 'Samuel' while he is in mild parts. The drawback is the other characters are passing at parts and which have nothing specials.

Babu Janardhanan has tried for a points in his script and direction but unfortunately he didn't get its. The Screenplay have techniques those are mainly trying to present as a tear-jerker which lacks the main theme while the characterization is good and the direction isn't creative. In D.O.P section handled by Sinu Sidharth; the lights and tones are exactly suitable for this film. Relating to the shots it cannot be called perfect fully because the drawback is some are childish like body mount camera shots, inapt conceives etc. Editor Sibin.K.Soman is just followed the script and the Musics of Vinu Thomas, is neat.

Grade :   A  'Weak' Sequel
Rating:   2/5

"Alex Pandian' - Review

'Alex Pandian' is an highly anticipated film during this pongal, but all were blew out. The film is mainly dragged out and out in its Screenplay and Making. The film from the Director Suraaj and Karthi did the protagonist aka Title role as 'Alex Pandian'. Santhanam, Anushka, Milind Soman, Suman etc. are doing the other roles in this film which is released today 11/01/2013 and the opinions are mostly mixed with negative

Story
The story starts with Karthi who settles with hiding his true identity at Santhanam's house because some baddies follow him. what is the reason that the baddies follow him? It is the crux of the film.

'Alex Pandian' the film starts with a fight & chase scene and then it going on to the related parts. A stone washed story which drifting the sequences with old numbers like jokes (including blue jokes) spices and predictable macho isms, superfluously (the interval related 'car chase' scene is so pathetic) and the second half is lagging even at parts. Unfortunately, these are the drawbacks.

'Alex Pandian' characterization is weak. Karthi does the title role with his replaying gestures (like his giggle, naughty tricks and impulsive factors). Comparing to his previous movies, he has one special in 'Alex Pandian' that is he nicely handling the fight movements. Santhanam's jokes are nearly the average and Anushka's heroine character is just passable but has nothing special. And the Villains (handled by Milind Soman, Suman, Prathap Pothan etc.) are double-dyed. Actor Manobala makes laughter at his parts.

There has a plenty of weak dots (weak characterization, superfluous parts etc.) in the making and script that it turned out to a damp crack product. Director Suraaj goes to the extreme of heroism (the hero who never fails) and masala, its are in place, but the script is let down. Saravanan's visuals (specially in action scenes) and the Editing by Praveen & Srikanth shows their know-hows in their jobs. The Bg tracks of Devi sriprasad is well in the situations (specially in interval related scene and climax) but the original tracks struggle to reach the right mood.
Totally, 'Alex Pandian' is a heavy product dragging with plan less route.

Grade:   'Heavy dose' Pandian
Rating:   2 / 5

'Nee Ko Nja Cha' - Review

'Nee Ko Nja Cha' (Ninneyum Kollum Njanum Chaavum), grabbed a lot of anticipation of viewers with its attention-getting title and on marketing & promotions but as luck would have it, the film didn't carry off in screening by the prime reason is its script. Gireesh directed this film which starring Sunny Wayne, Sanju, Praveen, Sija Rose, Rohini Mariyam Idikkula etc.in the lead. 'Nee Ko Nja Cha is out 04/01/2012 and its opinions are mixed.

Story
The story consists the lifestyle of youths, in which crucial incidents like love affairs&failures and wrongs ,through the main characters Roshan (Sunny Wayne), Joe (Praveen) and Abu (Sanju).

'Nee Ko Nja Cha' story contains accidental incidents and its plot would make a good moral. But the plot isn't working perfectly in the screenplay which has a lot of exaggerations and sleazy humorous situations in first half. Second half is totally flatten the film, works as lagging that goes to its flashback twists, double climax and tail end, a crash and burn style.

Actor Sunny wayne has something to do well in this film and the character is in his cup of tea while the performance has nothing offers new. Other roles of Sanju, Praveen, Sija Rose, Rohini Mariyam Idikkula etc. are flawlessly did their job.

As a scriptwriter Gireesh totally failed in the pattern of sequences and about his direction is just okay. The plot is apposite in the story but it could have been better in a new treatment. 'Nee Ko Nja Cha' has the one and only strong and saving benefit is its production & promotions. It is produced by Sandeep Senan (one of the main production executives in Malayalam film) who co-producing with Aneesh.M.Thomas. They strikingly did their job that how the film reaches the audience. In first title of 'thanks' credits, the prominent technicians list has included in 'Nee Ko Nja Cha'. And also their banner name 'Urvashi Theatres' (its logo) and promotions, is app laudable. But unfortunately, it isn't in the cards. The major technical side; shots are taken by Neil is nicely captured (visuals of Goa) and Manoj's editing is just follows the script. Prasanth Pillai's original tracks are just okay while Gopi sundar Bg is good grace in 'Nee Ko Nja Cha'. Other Specialities are its Title graphics & Lab works give a cosmopolitan look.
Totally, Nee Ko Nja Cha is catchy in its title, production & promotions while it works as an ineffective script.

Grade:   An 'Eye-catching' Production of inadequate script.
Rating:  2/5
