'Ayallum Njanum Thammil' - Review

'Ayaalum Njanum Thammil' is another good film from director Laljose and the duo writers Bobby-Sanjay. Prithviraj and Prathap Pothan did the central roles along with Narain, Kalabhavan Mani, Samvrutha Sunil, Rima kallingal, Ramya nambeeshan etc. The film released 19/10/2012 and the opinions are generally positive.

Story
A Medical Background story features about a relationship between a senior doctor Samuel (Prathap Pothan) and Jr.Doctor Ravi Tharakan (Prithviraj).

'Ayaalum Njanum Thammil' has thoughtful story and sequences mostly ravishing in First and Second Halves. specially major parts are superb.

Prithviraj and Prathap Pothan bagging the attention of viewers by their wonderful performances. Specially Prithviraj's acting calibre goes up much much better in some remarkable scenes, outstanding!. Surely, Prathap Pothan's performance will entertain you. And other roles of Narain, Samvrutha Sunil, Rima kallingal and Ramya nambeeshan are good. Yet Kalabhavan Mani acquires a mild role, it is excellent in his part.

All through the film wins by Lal Jose's perfect and simple direction and Bobby-Sanjay's distinctive scriptJomon.T.John's visuals would chills your mind and Editing of Ranjan Abraham did timely. Ouseppachan did cool musics and other technicalities making marks.

Grade:    Good & Ravishing

'Jawan Of Vellimala' - Review

'Jawan Of Vellimala' hits the screens today (19/10/2012) and it received mostly negative opinions. The film is directed by debut Anoop Kannan and Written by James Albert. Mammootty as the title role 'Jawan' along with others Sreenivasan, Asif Ali, Mamtha Mohanda, Baburaj etc. 'Jawan Of Vellimala' is the first production venture of Mammootty's banner 'Play House'.

Story
The film features about 'Vellimala' dam and its watchman Gopikrishnan who is an ex-service man.

'Jawan Of Vellimala' has good story but it fails in film's treatment. A number of Sequences lacks the pace, hence the some scenes lost the effect. Specially, its Climax and End, brilliant.

An elegant performance of Mammootty in his role 'Jawan Gopikrishnan' and he shows his adroitness, perfectly. specially in 'Climax'. Besides him some good performances of major roles of Sreenivasan, Mamtha Mohandas etc. Baburaj's villain role is ridiculous because of his some overdoing performance.

Unfortunately, Anoop Kannan fails in his debut film's treatment and James Albert's script goes on frail manner. However the script keeps the same formula of James Albert, but it doesn't keep an exceptional one. The one and only feature that the film bagging remark in Satheesh Kurup's cinematography. other technicalities Editing, Bg Scores and Music are just fair.
'Jawan Of Vellimala' has only good qualities in Mammootty's performance and Satheesh Kurup's D.O.P

Grade:   A Superb Jawan in a Yawn Film
Rating:  2.25/5

'Maatraan' - Review

Actor Surya does firstly a challenging role in his career as a conjoined twins in 'Maatraan', a K.V Anand film which released today (12/10/2012) worldwide. 'Maatraan' is hopefulness film about actor Surya's fans but opinions are mostly mixed, because it doesn't reach the eager anticipations.

Story
'Akhilan' and 'Vimalan' (Surya), a conjoined twins who having different traits. Their father (Sachin khedkar), a genetic scientist and also a successful in his business of 'energion' is a energy drink product. Akhilan knows that his father doing an illegal business to rapid growth of his wealth. In this stage, Akhilan is murdered and Vimalan finds out the real culprits.

Maatraan, a scientific thriller implying a good significant story reels with commercial ingredients in First half and the Second Half regarding about moral issues but it fail to keep up a pace. Even though its climax is effectual but lacks the effect. For 'Interval' related scenes, helps more impact.

Surya fervently did a good job in his characters 'Akhilan' and 'Vimalan' with different looks which would make a whopping profit for this film and 'Maatraan' is a pomp of Surya. Actress Kajal Agarwal is just passable in her character and the other central roles of Sachin Khedkar and Tara are good.

Director K.V.Anand made this by his formulaic pattern like in 'entertaining factors' and 'scientific twists', Maatraan isn't special from him and the writer Subha. More over it feels taking up much time in second half making. S.Sounderrajan captures the elegant visuals and Anthony's Editing is just follows the script. Except other good CGI, 'Maatraan is mainly failure in Harris Jayaraj's musical, he pours the old wine and the pathetic Graphics of 'one of the conjoined twins'

Grade:   Maatraan isn't so 'Extra Ordinary'
Rating:  6/10

'Taken 2' -Trailer Outloook

I'm eagerly waiting for watching the sequel of film Taken - 'Taken 2' which hits the screens soon. It is glad to say about that the film written by the same team Luc Besson & Robert Mark Kamen and also Liam Neeson as the the central character 'Bryan Mills'.

Specialities Outlook
Luc Besson, became one of my favourite creators by his works; 'District 13', 'Unleashed' and he co-written with Robert Mark Kamen for the good films Series of 'Transporters' and 'Taxi', 'Bandidas', 'Kiss of the dragon'. Therefore 'Taken 2' much rises the expectations

'Taken' was more entertaining in its thrilling plot, stunning Action situations and this time 'Taken 2' is so stupendous. Basically in its plot!

'Bryan Mills' is one of great characters of Liam Neeson and he has attractively done it in 'Taken'. I am a great fan of him and also admiring greatly his imposing voice. Along with him, good characters of 'Taken' - 'Kim mills' of Maggie Grace, Famke Janssen's 'Lenore', Leland Orser's 'Sam' also included in the sequel. Specially In Taken 2, Rade Sherbedgia has done the chief 'kidnapper' role who is the father of the role 'Marko' in 'Taken'.

Trailer Outlook
  • Good Starting
  • An apt background 'Istanbul'
  • Villains Introduction is classy
  • A 'game of chance' revenge thriller
  • Breathtaking Action bits
  • Superb shot in 1.22
  • Nathaniel Mechaly's good BG Scores
  • Ending is simple but it is superb by the backing sound 'I will kill them to'

Grade:  'Breathtaking'
Rating:  3.75/5

'Manthrikan' - Review

In major sections like Direction and Script, 'Manthrikan' is out-of-date Horror film but it holds you in seats and gaze at the screen is its Classy Camera Visuals. Jayaram did the protagonist role and Poonam Bajwa, Ramesh Pisharody, Kalabhavan Shajon, Devan, Muktha etc. as the other major castings. The film directed by Anil and written by Rajan Kiriyath and released on 05/10/2012. 'Manthrikan' responses are 'Average'.

Plot
'Shenayi Mandir' is a haunted house of a revengeful ghost and a wizard, Mukundan Unni Bhatathiri (Jayaram) arrives to solve the problems of that House

'Manthrikan' is a Horror story goes on almost similar route of the film 'Pakalpooram' done by the same team 'Anil and Rajan Kiriyath'. Film's First Half is okay but the story is random way in Second Half, 'Hit-or-Miss'. Another major drawback - Climax is abrupt

Jayaram's performance is everlasting and Poonam Bajwa is pretty but as a haunted ghost girl, she isn't apt. Muktha flawlessly did the character 'ghost girl' and Others Ramesh Pisharody, Kalabhavan Shajon are just fine. Suraj Venjaramoodu's Character is just a moment in the film but he gave some hilarious situations.

Director Anil is just tried to follow Rajan Kiriyath's script which carries on the same manner of 'Pakalporam' but it is improper. As aforementioned, 'Manthikan' has power packed Horror visuals which is the main strong backing. Hats off to the cameraman Vaidy.S.Pillai. Other technical sides - Rajamani's BG Scores, Music by S.Balakrishnan, Art Direction and Sound Effect are fair.
'Manthrikan' frightens you by its Classy Visuals and Shots

Grade:   A 'Pop Corn' Film

'Banking Hours' - Review

As a online story, 'Banking Hours 10 to 4' is quite interesting but it misses the pace because the snug less and outdated route. The film hit the screens today (05/10/2012) and it received negative opinions. K.Madhu directed this is an 'All-star' film which includes Anoop Menon, Jishnu, Midhun Ramesh, Ashokan, Shankar, Meghna Raj etc.

Story
A Murder happens in a bank named 'Lemo' and the culprit is revealed by an investigating officer within the banking hours 10 to 4.

Mainly, 'Banking Hours 10 to 4' is a Murder-investigation thriller which also crashes in Bank Robbery and Kidnapping. Even though 'robbery' is an upholding factor to presenting the story, but its more sappy and you may think that what is the purpose of including 'Kidnapping' in the story?. While the Suspense is misleading, it goes on a predictable route.

Some characters are cram to include for soup up the suspense pace and also their life is included in this film, incompatibly. Whereas Anoop Menon's protagonist role is not so good, Others are Tini Tom, Jishnu, Midhun Ramesh, Sudhish etc.as the major characters and they gave quite good performances.

K.Madhu's direction doesn't offer a special because his making style isn't advanced from his previous films. (eg: The shots of culprit when he revealing the intention of murder, the 'robbery' suspense is funny). Debut writers Sumesh-Amal's screenplay is complicated and the characterisation is so poor. There is nothing a technical brilliance in Saloo George's Visuals, Editing of P.C.Mohanan and Rajamani's BG Score but the Art section is good, by Salu.K.George.

Grade:   'Banal Hours'
Rating:   2/5

'End Of Watch' - Trailer Outlook

'End of watch', a David Ayer's Specialisation like Crime-Action-Thriller flick in which as the central characters Jake Gyllenhaal and Michael Pena amongst other actors. The film produced by John Lesher and David Ayer.

Specialities Outlook
David Ayer, an accolade writer and creator behind the films 'U-571', 'SWAT', 'The Fast and the Furious' and 'Training Day'. Those were mostly commendable action thrillers. Suchlike End Of Watch' may thrill the audience.
In this film, Jake Gyllenhaal has new look and I always liked the performance in this trailer and felt that his role would be preferable in his career. When I saw the film 'Source Code', in which his performance made me one of his fans.
Michael Pena is also supporting with Jake and it would be one of the best of his characters because I liked his best role in the film 'Crash'.
The films' Major technical crew is great like in Editing and Music. Dody Dorn has done the editing of this film and I regards his work in Christopher Nolan's 'Momento', its superb!. David Sardy's scores was noticeable hits in the films '21', 'Premium Rush' and 'Ghost Rider-Spirit Of Vengeance'.

Trailers Outlook
  • Starting is simply good
  • Plot Fullness trailer
  • Striking scenes
  • Jake and Michael Pena, rocking
  • Realistic Visuals and Direction
  • Superb backing score, specially Kevin Rudolf's 'In The City' starts at 1.00.
  • I liked the last scenes starts at 1.57.

'Resident Evil : Retribution' - Review

'Resident Evil-Retriution' hit the screens 28/09/2012. The film from the Director of 'Resident Evil Series' Paul W.S Anderson and Mila Jovovich who has done the famous character 'Alice'. 'Resident Evil-Retriution' responses are mostly Average.

Story
This time Alice has a difficult mission that resisting the war of 'Umbrella corporation'.

The 5th series of Resident Evil - Retribution is so disappointing that lacks the plot, repeated situations from other series. The one and only positive factor that some stunning scenes like a video game and the tailpiece fight- is not so bigger.

Mila Jovovich's 'Alice' - looks and nuances is almost pretty and she keeps the acting level from other series. In first- Michelle Rodriguez's 'Rain Ocampo' was impressive, but in this series isn't much impact except her performance in climax sequence . Other characters of Sienna Guillory, Oded Fehr, Boris Kodjoe, Shawn Roberts etc. just simple roles.

Unfortunately, Paul W.S Anderson bring back the best characters of previous series in a weak script which has good stunts and the sequences much more goes like a video game. It scores in Kevin Phipps' production designTomandandy Bg scores, D.O.P by Glen Macpherson and Niven Howie's Editing. And one of the drawbacks, the movie dips into some sappy CGI works.
'Resident Evil-Retribution' is disappointing for all series watchers

Grade:  'Vigorless' Retribution
