'Thaandavam' - Review

'Thaandavam' is an action thriller from the team of Director Vijay and Actor Vikram, after a drama film 'Deivathirumagal'. In this film, Anushka, Amy Jackson, Jagapathy Babu, Nassar, Santhanam did the crucial characters along with Vikram and it released today (28/09/2012). 'UTV Motion Pictures produced this film and the opinions are mostly mixed.

Story
Kenny (Vikram), a blind man and a piano artist in a London church. Sara Vinayakam (Amy Jackson) falls in love with Kenny but Kenny has a mysterious past and he has to take revenge upon a person who destroyed his life.

'Thaandavam' story goes on to predictable route, First and Second halve sequences lacks the thrills because it moves in slowly, but the flashback scenes are attractive; which deals with Anushka-Vikram relation track.

Vikram has done full justice to his character 'Sivakumar' and his performance is desirable. However, Jagapathy Babu's character who having a predictable suspense, his performance is fine. Actress Anushka is apt for the role 'Meenakshi' and her performance will retain in mind of the viewers. Others Amy Jackson, Santhanam, Nassar and Lakshmi rai are fair.

Director Vijay's making style is so fall short of and the screenplay have nothing specials. In spite of the action scenes is poor, it differs from other thrillers that's what a main part included in this film is 'Human Echolocation' technique. Nirav Shah's visualisation is almost same from his previous Tamil films like 'Billa(2007)', 'Madrasipattanam' and it doesn't offers remarks. Anthony's cuts just follows the script and G.V Prakash has done simple Bg scores and Soundtracks.
Altogether, don't much expect from 'Thaandavam'

'Puthiya Theerangal' - Review

Sathyan Anthikaad, a prominent filmmaker behind a lot of commendable family hit films and his new film features the story about seashore people named 'Puthiya Theerangal' released today (27/09/2012) and garnered Good responses from viewers. Namitha Pramod and Nedumudi Venu as the central characters and Nivin Pauly, Sidharth Siva, Dharmajan etc. are handling the other major characters in this film which produced by Aan Mega Media.

Story
The story follows a seashore girl 'Thamara' , an orphan. An old man who having a mysterious past enters in her life then what happens in the rest?

'Puthiya Theerangal' story is simple, First and Second Halves treated & packed with perfect methods like Humour and emotional situations. Furthermore, the film mentioned a good message.

'Puthiya Theerangal' has enriched by its superb performances of Nedumudi Venu, Namitha Pramodh, Molly, Chembil Ashokan. And others Nivin Pauly, Sidharth Siva, Dharmajan etc.are fine. All stars have done a wonderful job in their characters

'Puthiya Theerangal' is mostly safe by its perfect treatment of Sathyan Anthikaad and his direction is simply superb. Its story, screenplay and dialogues penned by Benny.P.Nayarambalam, but somewhere it couldn't goes on to a perfect path. Sathyan Anthikaad carefully handled this film by his good techniques, so it became as a 'good' product. In technicalities - Cinematography by Venu, Editing of K.Rajagopal and Music by Ilayaraja are strong backings. Venu taken the first-rate visuals, specially the seashore scenes superb! and nevertheless Illayaraja's Bg score and tracks still has no different, but that's what is apt.
Overall, 'Puthiya Theerangal' has upgraded by Sathyan Anthikaad's treatment

Grade:   A 'Sathyan Anthikaad' Hit

'Charulatha' - Review

Actress Priyamani playing a special character in her career as 'conjoint twins' in the film 'Charulatha' which released 21/09/2012. The film directed by Ponkumaran and its stars Skanda, Saranya Ponvannan, Seetha, Sai Sasi performing the other main roles. 'Chaarulatha' received mostly Average opinions.

Story
Charu and Latha, is twins conjoined at stomach. Like their bodies their mind is also conjoined. Charu falls in love with a boy. For this reason they decided to be separated but unfortunately one of them dies. Evil soul of the dead follows the other. See what happens in the rest.

'Charulatha' is an adapted film from the Thai Horror film 'Alone', story is good and the sequences could have been make better and somewhere has mix-ups, Specially its climax. Albeit the film keeps the good suspense, it lacks the thrills.

Priyamani does the dual characters 'Chaaru' and 'Latha' and equally did a good job. Especially her final act is superb. other characters of Skanda, Saranya Ponvannan, Seetha are fair.

Ponkumaran has made this with little changes from 'Alone' and I have doubt that did he success in his making style? because its CGI works and treatment, poor but the suspense is unpredictable. Paneerselvam has taken the superb scary visuals for this film and Editing of Donmax is commendable. Sundar.C.Babu's Bg scores have nothing special but the 'title song' is good.
Overall, 'Charulatha' frightens and thrills u in a little part.

Grade:  'Charulatha' is Average
Rating:  2.70/5

'Trivandrum Lodge' - Review

'Trivandrum Lodge' is a new film from the team V.K.Prakash - Anoop Menon - Jayasurya, after the commendable Super Hit 'Beautiful' in 2011. In 'Trivandrum Lodge', Starring Jayasurya, Anoop Menon, Honey Rose, Janardhanan, P.Jayachandran etc. and produced by Time Ads. 'Trivandrum Lodge' released today (21/09/2012) and it garnered mostly mixed responses.

Story
The story consists around the lives of people who staying in the lodge named 'Trivandrum Lodge'.

'Trivandrum Lodge' lacks the perfect story and the sequences much more flavoured with dialogues about human feelings like affections, love and sex, purposely. Even though the film has aiming some realistic characters, but it has scads of porn-com dialogues and scenes.

The film has no central characters, but it majorly follow the characters of Anoop Menon, Jayasurya, Honey Rose and there performance is good. other some characters of Saiju Kurup, Thesni Khan, P.Jayachandran and P.Balachandran are notable and they are attractively done it. Another speciality is a praised character 'Thangal' of Babu Namboothiri in the film 'Thoovanathumbikal', also included in this film in a small part.

Director V.K.Prakash's making style is not different from the film 'Beautiful' and there has nothing offers the specials. Anoop menon penned the screenplay by his formulaic style, enriched with some nice characters belongs to the imperfect story. Pradeep Nair came off his charge of Cinematography and a well balanced Editing by Mahesh Narayanan. Other remarks are M.Jayachandran's scores and Prod.design.
Altogether, 'Trivandrum Lodge' can be make a little better.

'Molly Auntie Rocks' - Review

In the films 'Passenger' and 'Arjunan Sakshy', director Ranjith sankar stated the serious issues. His recent film 'Molly Auntie Rocks' propounds another sensational problem and released 14/09/2012. Revathi did the title character amongst Prithviraj, Lalu Alex, K.P.A.C.Lalitha, Maamukoya etc. as the major supporting roles. 'Molly Auntie Rocks' opinions are generally mixed.

Story
Molly (Revathi), a bank employee and a brave-middle aged woman. Unexpectedly an egoistic IRS Officer, Pranay Roy (Prithviraj) enters in her financial dealings and clashes between them leads her in problems. See what happens then?

'Molly Auntie Rocks' - Story is quite impressive and the sequences are packed with vital and recent social issues, perfectly. Specially the film is high-toned, but it could be make much simple.

Revathi has done a wonderful job in her character 'Molly' and she is attracted in her all scenes, impressively. The role 'Pranav Roy' is absolutely apt for Prithviraj and he done easily. Other actors Lalu Alex, K.P.A.C.Lalitha, Maamukoya, Krishnakumar etc. are well meant.

Director Ranjith Sankar penned the well built screenplay, but his direction is complicated in somewhere and few dialogues dipped into schmaltz. Specially it is an extra-ordinary film and even though the plot is simple, it is very difficult to understand the common people. More over, in the film's crucial flashback situation is presented by illustrations; good.  The film having more distinguished marks in technicalities - Sujith Vasudev's Visuals, Lijo Paul's Editing and Anand madhusoodanan scores.

Grade:   A  Realistic Film

'Chattakkari' - Review

'Chattakkari', the film had bagged the remarkable credits in 1974; its remake with same title is directed by Santhosh Sethumadhavan and released today (13/09/2012) . Shamna Kasim (Poorna), Hemanth, Innocent, Suvarna mathew etc. did the new characters and produced by Sureshkumar in his own banner 'Revathy Kalamandir'. 'Chattakkari' received mostly average responses.

Story
The story is the love affair of Julie (Shamna Kasim),an anglo-indian girl and Sasi warrier (Hemanth), a Hindu boy. The rest of the story their relationship get more deeper and Julie gets pregnant. See what happens then?

Chattakkari - the Story is ditto same of the old film and the sequences are arranged in same methods in first and second halves; nothing offers new on it. The film drawback, sequences packed amorphously.

As the Same characters, Shamna Kasim and Hemanth did flawlessly their roles. Actor Adoor Bhasi is firstly bagged the 'Kerala State Award' in the old film's performance, but actor Innocent overstating the same role. Other castings Suvarna Mathew, Harikrishnan, Sukumari etc.just fine.

Albeit, Sethumadhavan has directed the old film with his significant style, his son Santhosh Sethumadhavan's making flippantly handling the new and there has no attractive qualities. Except the altered dialogues in somewhere, Vinu abraham's screenplay lacks the continuity. The film has strong backings - Vinod illampally'Cinematography, Edited by Ajithkumar and Production designs handled deservedly. Another remark is M.Jayachandran composed the lovely soundtracks. Specially the song ''Nilave.. Nilave'' (Sung by Shreya Ghoshal and Sudeepkumar).
Overall, 'Chattakkari' is just a remake, nothing offers new

Grade:    A  Light-Hearted Remake of an Everlasting Story
Rating:   2/5

Ek Tha Tiger - Review

'Ek Tha Tiger' hit the screens in Aug.15.2012 with great expectations, but all were blew over because its just an average. The film directed by Kabir Khan starring Salman Khan, Katrina Kaif, Gireesh Karnad, Ranveer shorey did the major roles and it received opinions is mostly mixed.

Story
The film is the story of an officer of RAW, Avinash/Tiger (Salman Khan) and a spy too. He committed a special mission to observe an Indian scientist, Pro.Kidwai and Tiger facing some rugged situations in his mission .

'Ek tha Tiger' story is just simple and the sequences blended as the 'Spy-Love' contents in First and Second halves. In all likelihood, there is only fact that Ek tha tiger making a mark which reportedly earned back three times its production cost since its release day. Its a Salman Khan film and his performance is engaging, reasonably. Though Katrina kaif does an attractive movements like her smile and actions and her role keeps a predictable suspense. And others Gireesh Karnad, Ranvir Shorey are  fair and actor Gavie chahl as a mild role.

Director Kabir Khan made with flamboyant sequences glamour, romance, actions, good scenarios etc. but it included in a flaccid story & script. Ek tha tiger has first-rate technicalities  - majorly, Aseem mishra's visuals, cuts of Rameshwar.S.Bhagath, Soundtracks of Sohail Sen & Sajid-Wajid (Song-Masallah) and Julias Packiam Bg scores done a lot of helps to the film.
Altogether, Salman Khan preserves your money's worth

Grade:   Ek Hai 'Salman'
Rating:  3/5
